The Vision

Place of Encounter and Peace Work

Bašta mira – Friedensgarten is a foundation established in Sarajevo in 2023 that develops and manages a cultural site in Visoko, near the Bosnian pyramids. Action-oriented pedagogy, youth travel, a seminar center, and biodynamic agriculture combined with permaculture, active peace work, the building of a vibrant community, and mindful, alternative tourism will shape this place.

The goal is to create a vibrant social and ecological organism in which the various areas work together in a harmonic balance and strengthen one another. Sustainable and fair economic practices, a free spiritual life in education and learning, and a culture of agreement and respectful togetherness form the foundation for peaceful coexistence.

This project is supported by a spiritual worldview based on the wealth of insights from anthroposophy. Rudolf Steiner made this spiritual science accessible to humanity in a comprehensive way at the beginning of the 20th century.

Biodynamic agriculture, which works in conscious cooperation with the forces of nature and the cosmos, anthroposophic medicine, and the global Waldorf school movement with its schools and kindergartens are examples of the far-reaching cultural impact of these impulses.

At the heart of this is the awareness that the human being consists of spirit, soul, and body.
Responsible action grows from this holistic understanding of what it means to be human and from a loving connection with humanity, the earth, and the cosmos. At Bašta mira, we also strive to act from this mindset—to have a healing effect and to create spaces for a future that is peaceful and worth living.
